The use of space and motion in illustration - The CreativeMindClass Blog
From the time I was a child I've always felt fascinated by painting and using my hands. This is the simplest way to express my feelings. When I was growing up in Taiwan being an artist, the idea of having an artistic profession was thought of as something negative and was often advised by parents to take classes on the specific aspects of art in order to avoid ending being hungry when they walk the streets.
Fortunately, my Mom was always encouraging my pursuit of whatever I wanted to do and was ready to do everything she could in order to help me reach my objectives. When I returned to America, United States and graduating high school, I realized I was determined to pursue art as profession.

I was accepted to ArtCenter College of design, studying Illustration with the intention of going into feature animation. However, along the way I discovered motion graphics and became amazed by its variety and the amazing work that is created by people I greatly admire.

Which is the fashion you like?
I am still on the road to discovering an aesthetic that I could be confident about claiming as my own. I am prone to want to explore new designs every now and then... For instance, one month I'll want to go for something bright while the next month I'll be exploring the more natural-looking colors. I'll be captivated by a certain shape or style for a while however, I'll eventually be bored with it and would like to look at something that's more based on lines.

In other instances, I'll blend two opposite elements that appear intriguing to me as if I'm on a never-ending journey to explore and learn. However, after experimenting a at times, I'm noticing that there are certain designs and colors or patterns I'm drawn to. Maybe it's the beginning of a fashion?

It's a major reason why I love being at Oddfellows At times, I am unable to think that I'm blessed to be part of such an extraordinary group of individuals. In the workplace it is common for us to change our style depending on the project. Every project has to be completed using different methods and I'm always learning more knowledge from my colleagues every day.

What is the key to creating your illustration?
I like to make drawings of subjects I am intrigued or interested in, and create my own interpretations of it.
Most importantly, I love having fun. I believe that having fun is key to making anything and viewers are able to see the creator had pleasure making the thing... it's the added energy.

As I battled the pandemic and watching my colleagues and our team doing their best at giving back to our community as a whole, I decided to start my own Patreon named Joy&Frens which means that a quarter of my net income goes to the charities my patrons choose. In this Patreon, I offer Tips and Tricks, create videos and also invite my colleagues to collaborate with me, and I also impart my knowledge.
My work can also be seen on Instagram and my website.
