The Stellantis platform is powering endless learning via video
With a workforce that is more than 300,000. Stellantis is the manufacturer of brands like Peugeot, Fiat, and Chrysler - knows the importance of scaling just about everything. "We rank among the top five car makers in the world," states Phil Price, Head of The Performance Academy, Stellantis. "As the development and learning field grew, we quickly realized it was all about what we can provide our workforce to improve performance." And so, The Performance Academy was established.
Based in the automotive capital of England The folks from The Performance Academy produce thousands of hours of training content for Stellantis employees. However, to keep up with the ever-growing number of employees, they needed a repeatable way to share information with teams across the world. "We've spent a huge amount of time looking at what people are looking for in their learning," says Phil. "Video-based virtual instruction is the future."
A part of the community for nearly an decade, the group has always seen the value of video. To that end, Stellantis has shifted their focus toward an entirely online approach. "With face-to-face instruction it is necessary to repeat it 10 times with an additional cost of 10," he says. "With video, you can scale it to no limits."
Unrestricted learning
"We are able to access, in the average, around 350 hours of content available each weekly period," notes Phil. "Behind those 350 hours, we've probably got tens of thousands of hours worth of content that we've established and developed over the last 12 years."
The content catalog ensures that every employee is able to learn at the time and place that is most suitable for their needs. "Our training is accessible 24/7," he adds. "That's important, because there are people taking the training on their own schedules, because they know it will enhance their performance."
Powerhouse productions
Today, The Performance Academy is expanding to near-daily live streams that range from sales seminars to communications at the board level. To pull it off, The Performance Academy has invested in their production efforts which is a miniature Hollywood studio located in the middle of Coventry, England.
"Look at where we're today," says Phil. "We're in our own studio. We're in the position to generate an overlay animation, perform any task we'd like to. Whatever you can see in a movie, we can now do in The Performance Academy."
Partnerships for growth
Today, with the help of professional production equipment and an expert team of L&D experts, The Performance Academy uses to create, host and disperse their efforts. "As the learning and development sphere has grown, has continued to develop its delivery methods, models and reports," says Phil. "We've really benefited from that."
" the company is thinking about, 'How do we make this work great and offer it to an end user?' The benefit of working with is that we're in charge," notes Phil. "It's a testament to capacity, the right partners appropriate team members, and right ideas for what the future holds."
