The Code Company, a company that is a specialist in digital publishing The Code Company is among's top partners. They're WordPress experts , and are able to deal huge-scale design, such as migrations and integrations. They have developed numerous stacks of tech for helping thousands of authors.

The company has just replatformed Substack massive The Dispatch, a publication that provides news and commentary on policy, politics and culture that is worth $1.9 million and boasts thousands of subscribers. I talked to Stacey Astley Clark from the Communications and partnerships team about the company's offerings and platform:

"Our Director Ben May has been using technology to solve problems since grade 10" begins Stacey. "He created his first website for a local company at the age of 12 and also made $400 dollars." Ben recognized that there was a chance to expand his business and possibly make a profession out of it all, and so he launched his agency at the age of 22.

The Code Company didn't deliberately get into publishing, but it managed to gain certain publishing clients in the beginning. Stacey says: "We've carved out a specific area of expertise in technology development in order for digital publishers to aid them in as well as transferring from other platforms to WordPress and also establishing ads and features for membership. Our initial strategy was to stay platform neutral however, we realized that many platforms didn't work! Now we work exclusively using WordPress and there have been a variety of emergency operations on various platforms."

"The essential engineering element that is used to create websites is our sole responsibility," Stacey continues. We help publishers solve difficult problems using WordPress and find ways using the technology to "increase the revenue of their businesses, gain greater efficiency in their business and reduce the risks of businesses that involve technology".

Stacey and I both believe technology is getting more amorphous' which is crucial for publishing. "Sometimes you'll have editors or writers and marketing professionals that are working with technology and require the ability to utilize it and not have to contact engineers at every 5 minutes. These are "wordspeople" and are not technical people."

Code Company helps people create or transition to technology platforms that allow them to be completely independent. Code Company helps these people create or migrate to tech platforms that let them completely autonomous "They require a platform to perform what they did before but in a easier method. Code Company helps these people develop or transition to technology platforms. Code Company often works with publishing businesses with websites that are in tech debt. Often a plugin won't give the features they need so we feel it's more efficient to design an integration that is customized and guarantees that the users have the features they need without having to sacrifice things they do not."

Clients

The Code Company works with content businesses of all kinds including small-scale publishing firms to huge entertainment firms. The company recently announced the well-publicized announcement of Wondermind the mental health-related content hub backed by a celebrity Selena Gomez and Newsette CEO Daniella Pierson. Following the launch Bhavik Trivedi who is the chief operating officer of Wondermind said: "I've never had a flawless launch. Until now. It was released in the middle of the day, and it slowly became more popular and our integrations worked flawlessly."

They also partner together with Nine The biggest entertainment business in Australia. "We designed their corporate website along with their publications drive.com.au that is Australia's leading auto site, in addition to Future Women, a online membership platform for professional women." The Code Company also launched eBay's local-specific advertising website. "That was a major issue because they'd never had regional leads prior to that and started receiving Australian leads as a result of the website," Stacey confirms. "We recently launched the new website Science Alert, which is an influential science journal within the US. The website is run by Australia however, the majority of its audience is from the US. It was a project we worked on for longer than a year, and a half!" She reflects.

The reality is that the ideal fit for the company is working with smaller , established publishing houses that want to scale. "We ask, 'How do show that you're able to publish? How do we get your organization and the technology you use stack up so it can grow your business in the future How do we prove that you're a good writer?" Stacey says to us. It is likely that this is where the majority of clients from The Cod Co lie; This could include independent media groups such as news sites Crikey and Her Campus, Students' Media, a female-led group in The US (that The Code Company switched to Drupal before moving into WordPress).

"We aid talented and ingenuous creators who are overwhelmed or frustrated by their platform of choice and also CMS (content platform for managing content)," Stacey adds. "They're in search of alternative options as they realise that the platform they're using is limiting what they're able to accomplish. The platform isn't flexible enough and is the main source of income." In addition, it's becoming more difficult the difficulty for any creator to obtain data from the initial party. "They're simply unable to access information through platforms such as Substack. We're developing customized creator stacks so that they can control their own marketplace," she says.

Solutions and Services

The customers of The Code Company may be the ones who built their own site or have hired an outside company to create the site for them. They're employing a number of plugins. "As the number of visitors to the website has grown, it's becoming evident that their systems are failing and they can't fix things for themselves. This leads to problems, complaints from users and the realization that they're not in a position to do what they'd like to accomplish. Sometimes they can't do things that would be as simple to include something new in the menu." The female affirms.

Mike McPhate at the California Sun writes: "The biggest problem with my membership website during the past was the fact that it was inundated by bugs and imprecise prompts about how to use the website. I received emails every day from members who were angry. The site was created by The Code Company and , I'm no longer receiving this kind of emails from people, which is great!"

It's commonly known that the performance of websites is crucial for webmasters "If they fail to achieve their goals, it could result in them spending hundreds of thousands of dollars" Stacey continues. "And they continue to hack off one plugin before putting on another. The site is losing its effectiveness until the business doesn't succeed anymore. Then the site will be having this massive technology stack that's making noise, and they're conscious that they're in danger losing its functionality because of inadequate efficiency."

Publishers are now looking at ways for ways to diversify their sources of revenue, so more of them are looking at memberships and subscriptions. "We have to come up with a strategy that is secure and reliable. Our main job is analyzing strategies to improve the lives of authors" Stacey states. Code Company Code Company works specifically with membership solutions, to avoid this issue, which Stacey refers to as "leaky wall of payment". The founder of the Code Company explains that: "We've worked with other subscription solutions before and it's extremely easy to circumvent the payment barriers. If your business model is based on publishing, you're relying on selling of the content to consumers and this could be an problem."

There are new events along with projects in the pipeline

"The creation economy is booming," Stacey notes. "Creators are realizing the fact that SaaS platforms come with some limitations and are now looking to consider other solutions. Diversification won't disappear away for publishers. However, it's crucial to constantly explore ways to become more engaging and get closer to audiences by providing more targeted and relevant information. The subscription offerings aren't just about income, they can also allow publishers to get more connected to the audience they serve and increase engagement."

"There exist print magazines which aren't completely digital and we're still getting interest from readers who have realized that in order to make them viable the need to move to digital in some way or a subscription-based model might be a part of it."

In the context of the present happenings "Ben is a well-known face in the world of conferences," adds Stacey. Recently, Ben was a speaker at his first Mumbrella Publisher Conference in Australia as well as WordCamp USA in San Diego. The presentations covered the idea of the creator economy focusing on 'the minimalist publisher' as well as how publishers can achieve more with less resources. They also took into consideration the experiences that the founders of bigger publishing firms that often employ membership-based services.

It appears that the individual who started the business of the business has profound knowledge of the industry. "Ben's been doing this throughout his career, and there's never any issue he's not capable solving," says Stacey. "The facts I get from customers is that if they experience problems, they might need to contract with another company for 2 weeks for an investigation. The team at Code Company's technology can resolve it within twenty minutes via phone because they've been through all the challenges. It's terrific for business that can utilize this kind of method of problem solving."

At the end of the morning, Stacey says: "Publishing or managing a website doesn't require as much effort like many believe it is. It's all about simplicity." We agree it's easy to become caught up in new technology, themes or plugins - "these flashing lights will not move the needle in any way," she smiles.

The Code Company revels in "smart simplicities" It seems. Stacey says: "We offer the chance to connect with a tech company that can actually aid you to achieve the results that you want for your company in an easy method that is effective, and without the use of any word or phrase."
