In this article I'll show you what the Member Content Team effectively uses Strive to manage our blog post workflow. Since we have multiple writers contributing to our six distinct blogs, maintaining an organized and well-controlled workflow is extremely important.

Thankfully, Strive has two fantastic features that simplify the process and help ensure a seamless process. Let's explore how we leverage these features:

New Drafts

On the left side of the Content Calendar page, the " Add New Draft" is your launchpad to start your blog.

When clicked, it opens an open-ended window in which you are able to easily input all the essential details required for posting.

We use the Title field to indicate the writer assigned to us by putting their name prior to the title of the post.

It all occurs when you press the "Add New Draft button that is located at the bottom of the screen.

Strive instantly creates a brand new draft within WordPress by importing all data entered into WordPress Editor. WordPress Editor. This integration with Strive and WordPress removes the requirement for time-consuming data transfer which ensures a fluid and efficient process.

Once you've created a brand new draft, Strive automatically creates a box under the Scheduled Drafts column. It is a convenient way to display every pending task to our writers. This feature enables clear visibility and easy access to ongoing tasks.

A streamlined workflow with color-coded progress

Strive's bright color scheme does more than just add visual appeal but also serves as a powerful tool in our blog post process.

Each color represents a specific stage in the workflow that allows us to efficiently explain the next steps and accountable individuals. This is how we use the colors we use:

  1. Not Started (Red): When I make a New Draft the system automatically takes the status of Not Started and displays a vibrant red color. This informs the designated author that the blog post is now ready to be written.
  2. Writing (Orange): Once the writer begins creating the draft they transition the post status to writing, and are and are accompanied by a striking orange shade. The change informs me that the post is in progress.
  3. Editing (Yellow): When the draft is complete and ready for review the writer updates the post status to Editing. This is represented by a vibrant yellow shade. This informs me that the post requires my attention for further review and revisions.
  4. Final (Green): After I have completed the editing and am satisfied that the post is to be ready for publication, I switch the status to Complete. The box for the post immediately transforms into a calming green.

Green has a significant role for us, as Strive offers an optional setting which automatically posts any Complete (green) blog post on the scheduled date and time within the WordPress Editor. This is a significant time saver. It also requires a constant monitoring of times and dates every time we "go to green."

After a publication is successful and is published, the page turns black. This means that the whole process has been complete.

seamless integration with your main Content Calendar

Strive's blog calendars with individual content streamline our blogging workflow tremendously. However, what about our primary Asana calendar, where we track all the items that we need to deliver for our blog topics?

Transcribing each WordPress article into Asana could be a difficult and lengthy job. Our amazing Dev Team devised an ingenious solution by using Zapier.

By using a custom Zap that is activated whenever a new draft is created within WordPress, the draft seamlessly transfers to our Asana calendar of content particularly the "New Blogs" section I established.

The Zap automatically assigns the corresponding job to me, and ensures that I receive an alert about whether the draft is in the system. Once I've received the alert, I can go to Asana and drag the post into the correct topic section.

This is a huge success improving our workflow, and removing the necessity for duplication of efforts.
