How does branding can play a role to help creators sell more effectively and better? Following years of successfully running businesses and working with dozens of others, Melissa Bolton had a intuition: to sell effectively it is essential be aware of who you are and who your customer is. It's then a matter of aligning the message to both. The results show she was right and her vast network of accomplished clients can attest to. She explains what creators must learn about branding, as well as how helped take her coaching and classes to the next level.

At the age of 23, you had a 7-figure income. When you were 27, you earned vice president status at an Fortune 500 financial company. Today you're a highly sought-out Brand Therapist - a specialty you've trademarked and made your own. We'd love to hear how your incredible journey began and what you've learned from it thus far.

I've never treated customers like a prospect or viewed them as a potential possibility. They're real people with genuine needs, desires, and wants. The opportunity lies in the way you assist people. The answer you give ought to be more lengthy, but in reality, this is it Treat people the way you'd want to be treated, be attentive, and finally help.

Can you share some more details about the importance of branding as a psychotherapist as well as your unique archetype-based method?

I've always had an interest in the field of psychology and behavioral science however I've never planned to become a traditional therapist. When I had time off, I would read up on psychology principles and behavior patterns and decision making, particularly. I started applying these concepts to my branding efforts and the outcome was almost magical. Since I believe in being unique, I'm passionate about creating 'titles' for your professional self. 'Brand Therapist' seemed perfect.

I designed the archetype brand course in 2010. In the beginning, there was no such course available. People were using archetypes in branding, but an actual course was not in existence. It is the idea to apply the established scientific theories and apply them to buying behavior. It is possible to doubt the behavior however patterns are difficult to ignore. Archetypes show patterns of behavior , and help you to tailor your thoughts, style, and your offerings to those who need them most.

In your research You realized that the majority of entrepreneurs and creators were unsuccessful because they didn't pay attention to branding, and instead focused on advertising. What are the steps creators can take to develop an authentic brand image?

It's not possible to be able to market something if don't know who you are, what products you offer or who your best customers are, or even what it is you're really selling. The way I see it is that we're not really selling products or services. We're selling solutions. offering people an improved version of themselves. The ability to comprehend and communicate the core of your brand's message and transmit it into all that you do is vital to the longevity of every brand.

You offer a number of insightful, free resources to potential customers which includes your no-cost brand archetype quiz and analysis. What impact have these resources been for your company? And what should creatives do to incorporate the freebies in their marketing strategies?

The quiz for free has made a huge effect. It took me a long time to learn not just what questions to ask and how for the most accurate answers. More than a million people took the test throughout the years. It's still awe-inspiring to me. But it's highly insightful and goes deep, so I understand the allure. I'm happy to see it has been beneficial to many. It's helped me grow my mailing list and expand services to the people I want to reach also.

It is suggested to create freebies that align with your personal style. Being the luminary (archetype) teacher I love learning and sharing that knowledge. For me, taking a test is a good idea. For you, that quiz might be another thing. It may be a template, a white paper, an ebook, or any other graphics or downloadable content. Be sure to get some kind of reward, with one of the most sought-after is the email address. You can unsubscribe at any time if they aren't happy with the content.

With a few years of experience in consulting What advice do you provide to creators that are thinking of offering coach services?

Oh , I've got a lot of advice on this one:

  • Don't give your time away for free. Free consultations are a good way to find out if you're the right fit, but make sure you don't give away excessively. It's better to prepare a handful of questions you'd like to inquire about prior to the call. Make sure to stay within the allotted time. Keep them interested and wanting more.
  • Set boundaries, and then stick to these boundaries and stick to. People will always try to get more. If they want or need more than they can afford, then they'll be willing to take your time and money. If not, they don't respect your time, so you need to move on. It's that simple.
  • It is my goal to work only with your ideal clients. Use your intuition. If you believe that a customer isn't a good fit when you first speak with them, you're probably not. Never try to justify your prices or attempt to persuade people to cooperate with you. They are happy to collaborate with you , and eager to give up their money in exchange for your time.

When it comes to branding, what part should social media have and what types of content have been the most successful for you as a creative?

I consider social media to be more of a component of marketing than of branding. Personally, I like Pinterest over the other social media platforms. There's less chatter , and there's greater focus. People take the time to curate and organize. It's highly intentional. I love that. Additionally, I am able to find out what other things people save. These are distinct features when compared to Facebook and Instagram. I would suggest logging onto one of the platforms with the largest following, looking at the statistics of your site's visitors to determine where your traffic is coming from and spending your time and energy in the places you have those.

What tools have proven to be the most beneficial in creating and selling your products?

One of the most useful tools is actually a feature rather than a tool.

Reviews can be very beneficial in selling. Social proof carries immense value for buyers who want to understand what they're in for when they invest in something. Hearing honest feedback from someone other then you (the vendor) is quite powerful.

In addition, I make use of coupons frequently for various reasons. Being able to personalize coupons has been a huge benefit. The people love it when I make them customized codes using their names or business name. It's entertaining, and it has an air of professionalism.

I couldn't love 's "Courses" feature any more. This is my absolute favorite online tool and it makes it simple to create and develop courses. It's not even taking advantage of all of the options, like quizzes or video and can't wait to get them. My courses were launched just last month and have already had a lot of satisfied students.

What have you done to help advertise and sell your product on the internet?

I was selling digital downloads on a regular basis through my site until GDPR came into force. Being a US-based company I felt it was frustrating, confusing, overwhelming, and exhausting to navigate the recently implemented tax situation which is why I stopped selling downloads altogether. After I discovered they dealt with all matters VAT taxes for myself. I was immediately enthralled. It has enabled me to sell tens of thousands of dollars worth of digital items without losing rest over VAT concerns.

Also, the name is growing in popularity and recognition. Because the name is a source of confidence, buyers know they can buy without worry.
