Subscription Dashboard Reporting Calculation Improvements
In the calculation of MRR, ARR and MRR
Prior to this, upgrades, downgrades, and other add-ons weren't always tracked or handled correctly with respect to subscription reports. The issues were addressed so that calculations can become more accurate in the future.
What are the changes I should see at My Store?
If you are a heavy user of upgrades, downgrades or other add-ons it is possible that you will see your MRR and ARR fluctuate slightly resulting from the updated calculation. These calculations are more accurate than the previous ones, thanks to the fixes that have been identified. If you are still unsure you can contact us at [email protected].
Historical MRR Changes
Prior to this, we would use to use the deactivation date to check on the date of cancellation and would then remove MRR contributions, which had the unfortunate side effect of altering historical MRR value. To address this problem, we've improved our analysis to record cancellations on the day of cancellation , and eliminate MRR contributions at the time of cancellation.
Examples of changes
Let's consider an example of the annual subscription which was activated in January 2023, canceled in the month of May 2023 and later deactivated in the month of December 2023. Our prior MRR contribution calculation wouldn't change until after the end of December 2023. This could have altered the MRR contribution during the time from May through December 2023.
In the present, using the dates as in the previous example the calculation removes the MRR contribution from the subscription starting at cancellation in May of 2023, resulting in a more accurate MRR changes calculation.
What Changes Should I See at My Store?
In the case of some sellers, this could result in a slight rise in the number of cancellations, and also an increase in the MRR of active customers and subscriptions. If you have any questions regarding the reporting process, feel free to contact us at [email protected].
