With this new feature, continues to evolve right alongside the needs of your students, making it easier than ever before to organize and manage your course's online content.

What is Course Content Dripping?

There have been times when we've had these moments... in which you've watched the entire TV series over the span of a weekend, spending the whole night flipping through page after page of a novel, or suddenly realizing that you've eaten a whole sheet of biscuits... entirely on your own ().

Although a treat can be satisfying initially however, we often end up feeling unfulfilled afterward.

Learning can be the same way. If students absorb too much information too quickly, it can lead to:

  • Anxiety: Worrying they missed an important thing or have made mistakes.
  • Regret: Wishing they had spent more time taking the time to understand the material.
  • Doubt: Questioning if they really understood the text.
  • Insanity: Overloaded by all the information you need at one time.

These aren't feelings you want your students to experience following the completion of your course.

That's where course Dripping of content comes into play!

Instead of giving students everything at once, course drips let you distribute information at regular intervals. This method allows them to take their time with each lesson, keep them engaged and absorb information more effectively.

What Difference Will Content Dripping Create for Your Course?

1. Create Knowledge A Step at a Time

Instead of allowing students access to all the content at once, dripping allows each lesson or module in a particular sequence, allowing students to build their knowledge gradually.

The step-by-step approach helps students develop a sense of the progress they have made and their accomplishments throughout the program.

In other words, think about your lesson as a sort of stairwell, every step is an entirely new concept. Students need to master the first step prior to moving on to the following. It is important to know fundamental concepts before they can tackle higher level concepts.

2. Keep Students Interested and motivated

If students are aware that they will be receiving new materials frequently, they are able to build anticipation and interest. It keeps them focused because they're constantly eagerly anticipating the next lesson or module.

They are accustomed to making time aside for each new lesson, which will increase the chance of them staying connected and committed to the course from start until end.

3. Deliver Content at Just the Right Moment

Dripping course content allows the full freedom to choose the time and manner in which the lessons are published to ensure they are in perfect alignment in your timetable.

If you're trying to introduce a difficult concept that requires extra attention or gearing up for an project that will take longer, content dripping allows you to adjust the delivery of your materials to suit the needs of both your students and the course goal.

4. Let Everyone learn at the same pace

Dripping of course content is an effective method of keeping all your students moving forward with a regular pace and ensure that no student advances too quickly or is left behind.

By releasing content at carefully timed intervals, you create an environment of learning that is cohesive and where everyone progresses in a coordinated manner.

Additionally, with everyone learning together, you can easily identify and address any areas where students might require extra help, making sure no one is left out in the cold.

5. Help to Make Learning meaningful and manageable

Learning should be something students can enjoy, not a stressful experience. When all course material is presented at once this can cause an unnecessary amount of stress and anxiety.

Dripping of course content provides a more student-friendly approach by delivering lessons in smaller and manageable chunks.

Instead of feeling pressured to learn everything all at once learners can process information at a comfortable speed, which makes the process of learning more personalized and approachable.

In separating the content, you also create occasions of pride for your students as they master each step. The steady progress helps keep their interest and keeps students motivated to keep learning.

Shortly, course dripping is a powerful method which helps to keep your students motivated, focused, and focused. It's an easy and efficient method to change how you teach your courses, making learning more enjoyable for all those involved.

NEW Dripping of Course Content: Simplifying Rules for Courses

Making sure that course content drips was somewhat of a hassle, involving multiple steps and configurations. It got the job done, but let's be honest that it was not the most efficient way to go about the task.

We recognized that there was a need for a streamlined solution, so we've incorporated our Rules feature directly into the Courses extension. Setting your drip calendars is much simpler and more user-friendly.

The new built-in drip option, you'll be able to design drip schedules without having leave the program builder. It not only helps save time but also makes sure that the materials you use for your courses are safe and distributed according to plan.

Additionally, you can modify drip notifications within the settings. This makes it easy to communicate with your students when the next content release will be available. This can help keep everyone in the same place.

In taking care of the technical details We've allowed you to focus on what is important: creating the best course content.

How do I Set-Up Course Content Dripping within the Courses

Before your students start rushing ahead, let's organize the course material so that it keeps your students in the right track and engaged with the lesson in front of them.

Like we said a while ago, Courses utilizes Rules to control the flow of content.

That being said: Any drip options that you apply through Rules are in conflict with built-in dripping options in your course settings.

So...

  • For a streamlined and easy experience If you wish for your courses to automatically deliver content on a set schedule (like the release of new lessons each week) this new drip feature is the most convenient alternative. It simplifies the process and guarantees a steady supply without requiring any additional configuration.
  • For more personalized control: If you need the freedom to make content available at irregular or highly customized time intervals, Rules can give you this control. However, this approach requires some more time and effort to configure the additional Rules.

Make it Simple: Let's get Your Drip Content Flowing Smoothly!

For setting up your course's Dripping of content, begin by turning on off the "Enable Dripping" option in your course's configurations.

After that, you'll need to specify how the content will drip - by the section or for each article. You may also choose the frequency (daily, weekly, or even monthly) and select the start date and the time zone for every content release.

What's the next step for course offerings? Or Should We Say, What's New...

Course Dripping could be the newest and most exciting feature we've rolled out for Courses, but it's not the only update we've made recently.

Before you dive headfirst into dripping, let's look over other interesting changes you might have noticed in the plugin.

We continue to develop our tools for online courses, we realized that the increasing number of options - including Questions, Lessons, Assignments and even the Gradebook required the space of their own.

This is why we've made Courses their own menu item in the WordPress dashboard.

Today, all aspects of your course - be it creating a new course or establishing your course curriculum, or tweaking course settings - can be managed through the Courses menu in the Dashboard.

Separating Courses into its own menu item allows you to keep your course creation and management of membership tasks separate and efficient, especially if your business relies on both.

If you're an existing user then you've probably seen this minor change. We're hoping you'll find the new interface much more efficient and cleaner!

However, if you're new to the world of learning and are eager to begin building your courses it's possible you're wondering what to do with all these powerful features.

Just hop into the plugin, navigate to the Add-Ons tab, do a simple search on "course" to narrow down your choices, and you'll discover all of the education tools that are now larger than the plugin's own:
