More control over Community notification to both you and your fellow members
The community notification settings have been updated to improve user experience (and smaller email messages). Here's what's new.
How do you let members be aware of what's going on in your neighborhood?
It's crucial to let your customers about the latest conversations and engage them with more conversations -- but it is also important to allow the members control over their experiences and restrict the volume of messages they get. Additionally, we have learnt from our founders about how important it is to find this balance.
The most recent version for the community lets you know that users and you are more in control of notifications. It means that you can have more discussions, less bombarded by emails, and a community platform that brings the two of you closer to each the other.
Manage your personal notification settings when you're a creator
Community members as well as authors are now able to choose the notification they'd like for each topic: New post or reply to post you've made or new responses to comments.
If you are logged into the community you are a part of, you can go to Settings and select "Edit" in the Notifications. (Creators are able to find this on the Notifications tab of your Profile Settings.)

It will show all the subjects that you're following in the online community. You can simply mark or uncheck boxes in order to decide what kind of notifications you would prefer to receive on each area.

If this is the case, for example, you might want to be notified of updates on posts or comments, as well as replies to the subject that is time-sensitive such as Live Events as well as Announcements. For other topics it is possible to receive only updates each time someone posts the post, or deactivate announcements for that subject totally.
It is also possible to turn the notifications off and back on with the help of these buttons "Mute All" as well as "Unmute the entire".
You can also change your preferences for notifications per subject quickly on your "All topics"page or by visiting an individual page per area. Choose the bell icon following which you are able to change the preferences you want for notification preferences.

Look over this article for a step-by-step instruction on how you can change your notification settings - and feel free to share it to your customers as well!
Set default notifications for a topic
Creators are also able to create default notification settings for every subject in the community. This will give you more control over your members' experience.
Instead of sending out notifications to your members for every blog post, you are able to choose which subjects your members are notified about and which kinds of notifications they get.
Here's how:
The Community section on your dashboard, click on "All topics". After that, you can click on the "..." following topic you'd want to change and select "Edit Topic". Then, select the options for your notifications under "Default notification settings".

Users are able to alter their notifications at any point in their user accounts. If they haven't changed their settings, then they'll go back to settings created by the author of each subject.

We're hopeful that these community updates create a better experience for all of you members. Thanks for reading!
