Installation and painting - The CreativeMindClass Blog
Nicole Mueller is an artist from San Francisco. Her artwork includes large-scale works as well as murals and installations which mimic the effect of stained glass. Driven by process these abstract paintings are vibrant and saturated. They are constructed by layers of collage-like forms. Her work explores the complexities of color, the state of change, the dichotomies that exist within painting, the change of being, and the transition between the external and interior, and between the intangible and tangible.
My background
I'm mostly a painter who is a full-time an artist in San Francisco, California.
My experience also covers mural painting, installation work and being involved in the field of arts administration as well as career development.
I took art classes in the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore in Maryland, where I resided for a number of years before moving out to the west coast.

A large portion of my mission and work revolves around hosting Beyond the Studio with fellow artist Amanda Adams, a podcast designed to promote transparency in the art world by interviewing other working contemporary artists about their career pathways.
My personal fashion
The majority of my work has been instinctual that is driven by process. abstract and highly saturated constructed with layers of color and colors of collage-like shapes.
I create large-scale artworks, light-activated window installations to mimic the visual effects of stained glass and murals. Within this work I'm studying dichotomies, states of flux, and the threshold between external and interior, and the tangible and intangible.

The key to creating my art
I'm of the opinion that that showing up regularly to your work is essential. For me, developing a studio practice and setting myself goals to keep moving forward has helped me prioritize my tasks when life gets in my way. Also, knowing when to step back and rest or take breaks (for a day or a month, or for a longer period of time).
