He found his niche
As his daughters were infants, he discovered that they were wearing tongue ties, which was affecting their ability to nurse. After finding a dentist who could treat them with lasers on their tongue ties which allowed them to nurse much more easily. "The dentist suggested that I keep an eye out for tongue tie issues in kids because it's more common than we think. About one in four kids have one" Baxter tells .
Soon, people began asking questions about his tongue and lips tie. In search of more information, he dove into every course and book on the topic but realized that there weren't many sources to choose from. He then learned how to perform the laser tongue tie technique. After assisting patients and answering the mother's queries and concerns, he began writing an article on his blog about the procedure. A growing number of clients contacted him seeking his knowledge, so he decided to publish and write the book Tongue Tied, in 2018. "People read the book and still wanted to learn more," Baxter says. Baxter.
The next move was to build an online academy . When the dental clinic shut down because of the flu pandemic He had already completed the over 200-page course script. He was able to hire a film crew to film the flagship course of 25 hours while the office was closed.
He signed up
One of the main factors that has contributed to the success of Tongue-Tied Academie is the relationship it has formed with providing a seamless platform for course delivery.
"What's great is the ability to arrange the class into lessons and modules." Baxter shares.
With , he was able to offer his information in bite-sized chunks as well as add quizzes at the conclusion of each section. In addition, he has added chapters from his book to the program. "I find it beneficial to add different types of content to my lessons, instead of only videos," he reveals.
He's a big fan of the feature that allows him to automatically generate a certificate for students. "I needn't do any of the work for my course every day apart from responding to the questions in discussions since everything is automatized," he says.
The checkout process was made easier through TCommerce
Transitioning to TCommerce from Stripe proved instrumental in optimizing the process of checking out for the students of Tongue-Tied Academy. In fact, he believes that using TCommerce is causing him to lose more sales. However, since moving away to the Stripe integration, the checkout process has been made much simpler as per Baxter.
It supports a range of payment methods, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, Baxter says that TCommerce makes transactions seamless that makes it easy and convenient for users worldwide.
"You have the ability to simply click the button, enter your facial ID to buy a course" says Baxter. "It's an a lot simpler rather than putting all your data into a ."
"I do not even consider it because it's so easy," he says. " Payments will take care of all the details for me and then the cash shows up in the accounts of banks. ."
With plans to launch an upgraded version of his flagship course later this spring, Baxter plans on using an order bump feature which allows customers to add on another course for a reduced price, without ever slowing the process of purchasing.
He drove impact through charitable causes.
When the funds are deposited in the bank account of his He then donates 100% of the earnings to charities.
from assisting clean water projects across Africa and Asia in support of rehabilitation efforts and anti-human trafficking efforts, Baxter's commitment to community welfare illustrates the Academy's wider goal of social care. "I do not require additional stuff," he says. "We own a house We have cars, we're in good ."
"If I can aid the baby that couldn't feed before or who is colicky and having a hard time, it makes it worthwhile," he continues.
He introduced various versions of his course
In recognition of the diverse requirements within his audience, Baxter launched a condensed version of the course tailored to professionals like lactation consultants and speech therapists. This LITE Version course, priced at $495, provides a succinct yet impactful examination of the subject catering to a broader spectrum of students.
Each course is a perpetually updated format which means that students can enroll anytime they'd like. "Teaching this course online has made it easy as is possible to access," he says.
In addition, the classes offer American Dental Association-approved continuing education credits. "We employ an accredited CE provider. This means that they can use it towards the renewal of their licenses," Baxter explains.
The flagship course, however, cost $2600, the content--combined with CE certification--helps users see the value for money.
He developed a very simple customer journey
Despite its success, Baxter says that he doesn't have much of a marketing strategy.
The typical customer experience starts when the reader reads his book. In the event that they wish to know more about the subject, the book guides readers to Tongue-Tied Academy.
If he is speaking at events and conferences, usually, attendees will sign up. When people join his list of email addresses, they're sent an email sequence from MailChimp which directs people to his content.
He defined success for himself
Baxter describes success as having the capacity to expand his knowledge. "It's not me alone doing this," he says.
"We have over 1,500 patients who have completed the program. If they each see just one patient every each day that's more people than I can ever manage on my own. ."
Furthermore, his definition of success is based on educating the providers, helping parents and making sure that more people receive treatment--all while using the money to support charities across the globe.
If you are designing an online course the creator should seek out their passion. "It could be anything," he declares. "And regardless of what it is, you can make an entire course using it. ."
"Just take it on," Baxter encourages. "I'm not a online-course guy. I'm a dentist. It's just something I put out there. Last year we were honored to be in the top ten courses in ."
Prior to the creation of Tongue-Tied Academy, he created two courses himself, each priced at $99, which approximately 10 students attended. "I gained knowledge from this experience," he says. I was able to get better quality video and created a top-quality course with Tongue-Tied Academy ."
"You could fail a few occasions," he adds, "but it's one of the stages in learning. You're only in danger of making a mistake if you don't take the lessons learned from it. ."
As Tongue-Tied Academy continues to evolve, fueled by a steadfast dedication to both education and service, its legacy of charity and empowerment acts as a source of inspiration to aspiring teachers and innovators alike.
