Authenticity in art - The CreativeMindClass Blog
Connecting to your true self. The nature of who a person is.
Angela Maria Sierra, a spanish-born artist who portrays the real her own emotions and the feelings she's feeling. It is evident in her characters with deep emotional lives that are full of compassion as well as ease and happiness.
Her name is more well-known in the art world under the name Riso Chan, who is photographer and art teacher currently living at The Netherlands. She just started her new artistic journey with videos and the creation of her own YouTube channel! This was something she's always had wanted to create for quite a lengthy period of. With courage and determination, she fought through the awkwardness of speaking to cameras, she made the video that was fun to watch about her working, her life, and the creative environment in which she lives.
Riso Chan talks about accepting her true, sensitive self through her art work:
My work is deeply emotional. I work on portraits of the feelings I'm feeling. I have always been a sensitive individual. From the time I was a kid, it has been something that made me feel uneasy and I attempted to put it down. (...) As you mature to maturity, you realize that you're not alone and that everyone experiences different. I decided to use all of the emotion I carry into my daily life and start painting. I use it to fuel my creative juices and generate fresh ideas. That is amazing because something that I was pushing down all my life, all of a sudden I put it down on paper, and it was like a huge release. There is finally a place where I can utilize this feeling, and I can use these emotions pleasures, hurts, and pains and write them down. It felt really awesome and brought me to a place that was filled with gratitude. It began to resonate with number of others too. I began to open the door and writing things down on paper that I did not think of prior to. Instead of trying to look the same as other artists who have were already "made it" I was really listening on what I would like to express and who I am as an individual. I took on something that I was not happy with about myself , and then realized it is actually my superpower. I'm very happy to be my true sensitive self.
