Did you see the big news from Articulate recently?

They've introduced some major modifications to their product offerings by introducing the new Articulate 360. Their entire brand strategy is now centered around the same umbrella.

If you are a lover of Articulate (or maybe previously a user of their software) You might be wondering what this means exactly.

To begin, let me make it clear: Storyline still looks to be their flagship product, with the brand name "Storyline 360". It looks to be updated and has some brand new features too.

They also still offer Studio (now branded as "Studio 360").

They have also introduced a brand new feature to the line of products, called Rise. This new course authoring tool concentrates on ease of use and adaptability to mobile devices, and a minimalist approach.

There's also Replay 360 (a video creating & editing tool) as well as Peek (a screencasting application), and Preso (an iPad app for making informal courses from PDF slide decks).

I believe I have read that there is also a new Articulate Live offering, which is a webinar series for Articulate 360 customers teaching the new e-learning trends and methods employing Articulate solutions.

Oh, and there is now a Content Library with over 100,000 digital assets that can be used in courses.

Phew... there's a lot going on.

What This Means For You

Similar to Articulate they offer a variety of products that can be used to accomplish various e-learning or task-related tasks. The biggest difference though is that they don't offer multiple pricing points.

Articulate 360 is subscription based.

If you'd like to continue with Articulate 360, you must pay $999 per year. Articulate 360 line of products it is necessary to annually pay $999. This is, of course, to compete with Adobe's subscription-based pricing system.

The new change also means you have some new tools at your disposal.

"Do It All" Approach "Do Everything" Method

This is an opportune decision for Articulate. The previous offerings caused confusion, and were often unorganized. The subscription program aims at changing that perception to transform Articulate the "one stop store" to all things related to e-learning.

Each element to perfection in order for the entire offering to show value. If one element is not working, and options are not easily realized due to the closed ecosystem, then you're in for a long, difficult ride.

It's too far to be able to say about whether the new perspective for Articulate will pay off however, I will affirm that the past has shown they do tend to make some pretty savvy commercial decisions in the e-learning market.

The time will tell.
