Are there any ways to let AI unleash the creativity of humans? The perspectives of filmmakers and Vice President of Creative
There is no doubt this fact, AI will not go away.
The debate is ongoing about whether or not AI will become editors, writers, or concept art directors. most people have accepted AI's inherent nature, and are now pondering its potential to revolutionize the manner in which work gets performed. In Cannes, I heard creative personalities like will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas fame discuss the way in which AI will change our world over the coming 10 years. The majority of discussions about how AI has been rapidly releasing the capabilities of humans and the effects they have on the creative process.
Being a creative director for 20plus years, I wanted to voice my opinions and see this opportunity to have a dialogue with people in the people in the community.
What's the current situation? How do we move forward to get there?
That's what AI could accomplish in the near future.
"I was a magician before I started my film career. It's not long before you, as an artist, you'll realize that the most sophisticated technologies isn't able to be distinguished from art of. It can even be terrifying in the event that you do not know how it's working or what's happening. Similar to how I am concerned about AI as an artist or businessperson that earns profits by putting what's on your mind to the page, or onto the screen. AI is a scary issue since it could take over your work." Ben Proudfoot, Oscar-winning short Doc directory, Found as the chief executive officer of Breakwater Studios
Humans are naturally creative. It's an attribute that an AI can't easily replicate.
Midjourney was first launched in July 2022. ChatGPT came out the next month in the November of that same year. We've seen self-described "non-creatives" discover creative concepts which were left untapped due to lack of skills.
The results of some of these initiatives are remarkable, and the techniques have been developed at such a pace that you'll have a hard time believing the fact that they're just one year old.
AI assists you in communicating thoughts
The notions of nuanced stories films, images, as well as music have been restricted by the techniques and abilities required for bringing these concepts to fruition.
In the recent year, photos like this can be made by the application of a couple of simple keystrokes:
If you are a seasoned creator like the award-winning filmmaker Hashem Al-Ghaili, the potential is much more.
Think about his mostly artificially-generated short film " Last Stand," which depicts how humanity might react if extraterrestrials came into contact.
"AI will require us think about questions in ways we've never imagined," says Crystal Edmonds Director of Accounts and Event Activation at Magnet Media Films. "I believe that it can cause us to think. There will be things you didn't even realize it was necessary to learn about. You'll find that humans are able to reach a whole new level of creativity through Artificial Intelligence."
In this case, Staff Pick winner Paul Trillo's feature film "Thank You for Not Answering."
Instead of trying to achieve realism Instead, he focuses his attention on the dream-like look that's inherent to Runway's Gen-2. "As an individual who makes a call for someone from the past, he is flooded with pieces of the memory that are fading and is imagining his life which could have been."
A true artist is able to adapt to the limits and strengths of their medium to create an original work.
AI is an excellent instrument to test your ideas
There is no doubt that although these are amazing instances of how AI is able to communicate an artistic concept, AI for commercial use is at present, a gimmick.
Take a look at this artificially-generated beer commercial. The commercial appears to be from today, and it's not able to be considered an official ad, even if it was an authentic advertisement.
The presentation does give sufficient information in order to present the message to executives better than any mood board, sketch, or elevator pitch.
With the advent of generative AI technology, it is no longer necessary to rely on your words alone to draw attractive images for 10 or more viewers. It is now possible to use a descriptive prompt to create the ideal sizzle movie as well as animatics and pre-visualizations to convince people to trust an idea.
What's the significance of today's artists?
Write a good prompt to use AI.
"I believe that the next generation of workers will get to the latest technologies available and will begin making use of digital AI in both written and visually in written form," says Orlando Baeza chief marketing officer as well as chief revenue officer of Flock Freight. "I believe there is plenty of growth in jobs there, but we'll need to improve the skills of our existing workforce as well as the new generation coming in and developing the system."
AI could save production time
Today, video production takes on average 2 to 3 weeks to produce from start to finish however AI has sped this process and allowed filmmakers to become more inventive and also allowing professionals to have to have more time for their work which needs a focused and streamlined strategy.
"I think that one of the major problems within the industry of film is the price to create a film. There are barriers to entry very high. entry to make a movie One unique feature of it is that it allows for democratization in production," continues Baeza. "So If AI along with machines-learning software can help a person who has only the resources needed to make a film and reach a an enormous audience, that's an amazing thing, isn't it?"
AI has made video creation simpler through automation of processes including editing, transcription, personalization, and the scheduling. As an example, the removal of objects or images from the background of video used to be a difficult long process, but it is now as simple as the use of an application called the Generative fill tool.
"I think that companies will view AI as efficiency and productivity gains," says Baeza. "I believe that AI could be an incredible partner and will be an integral an integral part of organizations that are innovative."
This is the area that AI cannot assist you with.
AI will not assist you in going viral
Machine learning operates by analyzing existing data, and then looking at the patterns of what it had previously eaten. A artificial intelligence (AI) tool that is generative AI tool can create an amazing image of a blue-colored cup, using the thousands of images it taken of blue cups.
It's important to note that creativity isn't just about the same old ideas that have been used before; rather, it's the process of presenting ideas using a fresh perspective, putting an entirely new spin on traditional ideas or creating an association that no one else has previously done. According to Steve Jobs famously said:
"Some individuals say to give customers what they want but that's not my approach. It is our job to know what they're going to be looking for before providing them with what they desire. I'm sure Henry Ford once said, If I had asked my customers what they'd like, I would have gotten the most speedy horse. They don't understand what they want until you demonstrate the item to them. Our job is to help translate items that are not yet on the page." Steve Jobs, Co-founder of Apple
Creativity can be described as a blend of science and art. AI can be quite skilled in the scientific aspect of the equation.
There are several standard and reproducible best practices we use in the area as well as some that AI could duplicate, like the rule of threes or the use of a bold red font for promoting the sale. Yet, so far AI can't stay forward-looking. It isn't able to account for social media or discover the most recent and fresh approach to customer service that they are likely to appreciate.
For creatives, that's good news. Create your own unique ideas, then use AI to help bring your ideas to life.
AI cannot duplicate the artistic process
One of the best aspects of the process of creating is that -no regardless of the exactness of your ideas it develops an individual personality when it's created. Everyone who touches the concept brings their personal ideas and perspectives to the design, and the final result has a unique quality to it that isn't something you could have imagined.
A film editor I worked with once stated "You might have shot your storyboard, however your storyboard does not have any value now, therefore I'll just use what I've got." If all footage was taken according to the plan in the storyboard, that film editor might highlight details or edit the footage in a way which is not compatible with the original plans.
As of now, I'm unable to find a solution to use AI to replicate the creative process in such a method.
AI isn't able to provide an artistic perspective it can add to the process in the same way that an individual filmmaker or editor could. So, even when AI is used during the creative process --in the hopes of speeding up concepts or make edits humans still remain part in the creative process.
Be curious and keep your mind open
The throughline is that AI can accelerate our ability to share our ideas, as well as a catalyst to allow new generations of creators to emerge and do feats you've only dreamed of. If I were to define the moment in a phrase that would describe the moment as excited and nervous, because unlike any moment in many years it's a time to look towards the future.
In reality, I'm one male, and have a opinion and set of thoughts. I believe we must continue looking at the possibilities using a playful curiosity, keep open-minded and the conversation in motion.
While I'm waiting I'd like in knowing what you think of where you are? Are you making use of AI now, and which direction do you think it will take our industry?
