My story

My name is Ekaterina Boguslavskaya. I grew up in Russia.

I attended college in Moscow However, I was a summer camper out in the country.

It was cold and there was no hot water, the house was heated with a heater which was used by the neighbors to raise goats and cows. Wonderful times! In addition to nature and bikes, I was obsessed with animated cartoons. All my peers became adults and stopped enjoying cartoons. I was exactly the opposite! I realized that this could be my favorite thing to do. It was how I got into film school located in Moscow, Russia.

My style

My drawings should always evoke some very soulful feelings. It's like sitting with a fire in the middle of a day of skiing through the forest.

My method

I am awestruck by drawing. There's something that it shares with meditation. If I'm in the process of working in the dark, it might get dark and dark. I may also become hungry, but that's not really what affects me while working.

Presently, I work in both the illustration industry as well as animation... and even for board games. I truly love the work I do.

I've always drawn a lot. However, it began to look better after I completed my studies. Since I started to think about which and how to draw.

My suggestions to doubtful visual artists

Think about what you like and enjoy it. Make an effort to stop listening to others who you don't like what they do. It will all work out! There will be those who are going to love what you do.

My technique

I sketch almost every thing on my iPad in Procreate. Sometimes , I complete something in Photoshop.

The iPad really transformed my daily life. Now I work in bed, in libraries, in cafes. It is my choice of where to work, I move around, I do not just sit in front of my computer. The iPad is a wonderful tool that blends traditional drawing and computer-generated drawing.

The iPad is loaded with great brush brushes. For example, I purchased watercolor brushes through "The Watercolor MaxPack - Brushes for Procreate". I get excited every time I use the brushes. They are as close to real watercolors as possible.

Some words on the way I conduct my job.

I attempt to draw an outline sketch of objects. Because I find hard outlines brutal and cold.

Sometimes, I tint my shadows cold blueish using the multiply setting. Sometimes, I apply overlay. But I don't understand that very much.

Procreate has some good blur options, check the settings! There are several types of them and they're very good. The majority of the time, I do it with classic art materials, either on paper or canvas.

I'm always looking for more, researching my subject matter while trying to move closer to the image I love by creating my own projects.

The Teriberka series. Teriberka series

I went there after my trip (to Teriberka). Russian North, the Arctic. The town was once built ships to take a great deal of fish. It's now a bit of a ghost town.

Please Google it! It is very beautiful.

I'm always drawn to the North.

I am a fan of my animals, people, the millions of shades of the moss. Small berries are packed with vitamins, more than any tropical fruit. This is quite impressive.

Northern Cliffs appear to be the skin of giant elephants! These are the emotions which I have tried to portray in these photos.

About the Tiny Things series

The idea came to my head after I had become exhausted of my job, the flu, and the city.

Images of the woods

I purchased the macro lens and headed deep into the woods. What a stunning beauty was under my feet! Each and every inch was beautiful. It gave me lots of energy to create. That's how this project came about.

In spite of everything it is possible to find a miracle just beneath your feet!

How do I manage my work time

The hardest thing is to control your time and relaxation, to say no to requests that aren't acceptable. or to do lots of tasks, and to try and not get tired from doing the things you enjoy. The whole thing I'm trying to master.

The creative blockages

The tough aspect is actually the procedure itself - sometimes it doesn't take place. It's not what I like about the outcome. This means you'll have to suffer for up to eight hours and get angry. And then a couple of days later, you can redo it in a matter of minutes and everything looks good. What's that? Magic.

My little advice about how to get over creative blocks

If you are faced with a particular kind of task - do not take a moment to draw (if you can). Allow your mind to think as you go along busy doing other things. This is how I believe the best solutions come.

How I view my work

If I had to rate my own work , I wouldn't give myself the grade of "excellent". It's very exhausting and I torture myself. However, on the other side it pushes me forward.

Drawing is like an adventure!

If you have tickets to another country. You have a knowledge of it from Google and something else will be surprising you right on the spot. At first, it looks as if it would be a great adventure for me.
