My background
My name is Ekaterina Boguslavskaya. I was born in Russia.
I attended college in Moscow However, I lived out in the country.
The water was not hot, the house was heated by a furnace as well as the neighbor's raised cows and goats. Wonderful times! Besides nature and bicycles, I was obsessed with animated cartoons. All my peers grew up and stopped liking cartoons. But I did the opposite! I realized it could become my most-loved activity. That's how I got into the film academy located in Moscow, Russia.

My style
My drawings should always provoke some profound sensations. It's like sitting in front of the fire after an afternoon of ski in the woods.

My process
I love the process of drawing. The process has a lot in common with meditation. While I'm at work in the dark, it might get dark and dark. I may also become hungry, but that's not really what is important while engaged in my work.

Today, I am employed in the animation industry and illustration... And there are board games too. I truly love the work I do.
I've always drawn a lot. However, it began to look more professional after I finished my degree. As I decided the way and what I would draw.

My suggestion to skeptical visual artists
Find something you love and enjoy it. Make an effort to stop listening to others when you don't enjoy what they are doing. Everything will work out! There will be those who will appreciate what you've done.

My technique
I draw almost everything using my iPad, Procreate. Sometimes I finish something using Photoshop.
The iPad has really improved my lifestyle. Now I work at home, in cafes, libraries. When I pick a location to work. I also wander around and do not just sit at my desk. The iPad is a wonderful tool that blends traditional drawing and drawing on computers.

The iPad comes with amazing brushes. For example, I bought watercolor brushes from "The Watercolor MaxPack - Brushes for Procreate". Every time I use them, I am ecstatic. I use these brushes. They are the closest to watercolors as they can get.

Some words on the way I conduct my work
I try to make a rough outline of the objects. As I find hard edges brutal and cold.
Sometimes I make my shadows cold blueish using the multiply setting. Sometimes, I apply overlay. However, I'm not sure how it works.

Procreate offers some excellent blur options, check them out! There are several varieties, and they're very good. But mostly I draw as I do it with classic materials on canvas or paper.
I'm still looking, learning about my subject as well as trying to come closer to the image I like by making personal work.

Information about the Teriberka series
I did after traveling there (to Teriberka). Russian North, the Arctic. It was a town that were able to construct ships and capture a large amount of fish. It's now a bit of a ghost town.
It is a beautiful image. Please google it! It's stunning.

I always like the North.
I like the animals, the people and the million of shades of Moss. Tiny berries contain loads of nutrients, and are more nutritious than tropical fruits. It's very impressive.
Northern cliffs look like the skin of elephants! These are the feelings that I attempted to convey through the photos.

Concerning the Tiny Things series
This project came into my mind when I was very tired of work, the pandemic, and the urban environment.

I purchased a macro lens and went deep into the woods. It was amazing how beautiful lay beneath my feet! Each and every inch was beautiful. It gave me plenty of inspiration and creativity. It was how this project came about.
Whatever happens, there is a miracle just beneath your feet!

How can I plan my work time
The most difficult thing to do is keep your time and sleep in check as well as answer 'no' to requests that aren't acceptable. Also, to commit to many tasks and try to survive and never get bored of doing what you love. The whole thing I'm learning.

The creative blockages
The tough element is the actual process Sometimes it fails to take place. It's not what I like about the outcome. So you can suffer for up to eight hours and get angry. Then, a few days later, you can redo it in a matter of minutes and it looks great. What's that? Magic.

My little advice on how to overcome creativity blocks
When there is some kind of work to do, you should not get up immediately to draw (if it's possible). Allow your mind to think as you go along engaged in other activities. That's how I think that the most effective solutions will come.

How I view my work
If I had to rate my own work , I'd never rate myself the grade of "excellent". It's exhausting, and I torture myself. However, on the other side I am pushed to move forward.
Drawing is like an adventure!
You have tickets for a destination, and you already know something about it on Google but something might surprise your right there. It seems like a cool adventure to me.

You can find other works by Ekaterina on her website and look out for an extension of the series shown here on Instagram , Artstation or Behance.
